【Introduction】
The Lappet Moths (family Lasiocampidae) belong to the superfamily Bombycoidea. This present work deals with the Lappet moths fauna of China. It comprises two parts, the General Account and Systematic Account. I. General Account Chapter 1. Historical notes of Lasiocampidae Chapter 2. Taxonomic position of Lasiocampidae Chapter 3. Systematic Account In the present monograph 219 species and subspecies (including 2 new subspecies) in total of the lappet moths of China are described, which are grouped into 39 genera. Besides the adult morphology descriptions of every species and subspecies, the morphology descriptions of larvae and pupae are included as possible as known. The keys to families of Bombycoidea, to genera of Lasiocampidae, and to the species and subspecies of each genus are provided. The geographical distribution, and if available, the biology, food plants and habits have been listed in the text. The original description and if have had, the synonyms and the nominal transitions of each taxon have been cited. The male and female genitalia of most species and subspecies have been illustrated. The colour photos of most adults are given in the colour plates. The specimens included in this volume are mostly the collections of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, and part from other scientific institutions of China.
