【Introduction】The first chapter introduces the project, its goals and history. The second chapter reviews our data and makes some preliminary observations about settlement distributions. The third chapter is devoted to discussion of regional survey methodology and regional scale analyses as developed by the CICARP. The fourth chapter raises questions about and provides a test case for regional demographic reconstruction using Chinese data as an example of its usefulness. The final chapter reviews the use of and outlines some areas for improvement of regional analysis.
