【Introduction】

This book is characterized by the combination of macro and micro observations, with special emphasize on micro features. It reflects the specialty of nonmarine reservoirs in China, and differs from other atlas of petrology and mineralogy. It summarizes the formation mechanism of reservoir sedimentation and diagenetic evolution, and reflects major progress in sedimentation and diagnosis studies in petroleum experience of China. Sand bodies of various types and their oil-bearing features of the reservoir beds are synthesized in the atlas. Diagenetic features and models of continental lacustrine reservoir beds in different flow conditions are induced, and types of porosity and evolution tendency, distribution and origin of secondary pores as well as their relationships to hydrocarbon distribution and control factors are concluded. In addition, clay minerals of the reservoir beds and oil bed protection as well as special reservoir beds are also discussed in the atlas. The photographs in the atlas are carefully collected from the large amount of the first hand materials cumulated in the production practice of the researcher from a number of oil fields. They are representative and treasures.
