The authors describe beetles in 71 families and 829 species distributed in Liaoning Province. Of these, 31 species are new to China and 124 species are new to Liaoning. Most of the color pictures were taken directly from the beetle specimen whereas the remaining pictures are copies from other sources but are noted. The book presents sufficient information, clear classifications, high quality pictures, concise descriptions, and , therefore , is a good combination of vivid pictures and verbal descriptions. 
Color Atlas of Liaoning Beetles will be a fundamental information resource for the areas of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and plant quarantine. The book will be also useful for university students and faculty, science education of primary, middle, and high school students, and tourists traveling in Liaoning. Finally, the book can be a valuable resource for studying insects outside Liaoning.
