The Qinghai-Tibet Railway, 1,956 kilometers long, is the world's highest and longest rail line with the most treacherous weather conditions on plateau. Its completion shows that China has obtained enough integral technological strength to meet the challenge to the limit of humankind. The rail line runs through the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, known as the "Roof of the World", like a giant dragon. It has enhanced the hope of the Chinese people for building a powerful and prosperous country. It is a monument erected by the Chinese people on their road of independent and peaceful development.
