Ground beetle has the largest number and most diversity in the species of insect above the
ground,and it is very important insects as ecologically indicator.From May to August in 2009, we
investigated the ground beetles by trap in the Ningdong town in east of Baijitan National Nature Reserve in Lingwu Ningxia.
We select 5 different habitats。that is manual control area (I’II),desert sand vegetation,desert steppe and desert.Based on study the spies diversity、
community struetm'e and temporal dynamics in Ningdong town.The results were as following:
(1) We catehed the ground beetles 9838 in 59 species,it belongs to 14 families and 35 genera.In
these species,the 6 generas are the new record genera,18 species are the new record species in
Ningxia;and 27 generas are the new record genera,and 49 species are the new record species in
Baijitan National Nature Reserve of Ningxia.
(2) Tenebrionidae(account for 3 1.43% in total individual number)and Cureulionoidae(account
for 28.57%in total individual number)is the dominant families in the ground beetles;Anutolica
(account for 67.16%in total individual number),Microdera(account for 10.38%in total individual
number).Mantichorula(account for 11.39%of total genera) we dominant genera;Anutolica
mucronata Rcitter(account for 45.60%in total individual number),Anutolica potanini Reitter
(account for 19.50%in total individual number),Mantichorula semenowi Reittcr(account for 1 1.39%
in total individual number)we他the dominant species.
(3)The wide inhabit species is 17 species(account for 28.8 l%in total species),the middle
inhabit species is 20 species(account for 33.90%in total species),the rlalTOW inhabit species is 22
species(account for 37.29%in total species).The wide inhabit species is largest in the artificial
control area I, desert steppe and desert sand vegetation(1 7 species),it accounting for thdr total
number of species 53.13%,48.57%and 60.71%in their habitat,desert distribution was the least,it
only have 13 kinds of species,accounting for 50.00%;in the appropriate distribution of spocies in
desert grassland uP,there arc 1 3 species,representing the total number of species throughout Bunsen
37.14%,desort al'ca at least,only 6 spcies,only 23.08%;narrow fight kinds of artificial control
Region I and the largest number of desert areas,both 7,accounting for their total number of species
habitat 21.88% and 26.92%,at least in the artificial control area II,only l species,accounting for the
total number of spcies throughout Bunsen 3.57%.This difference reflects the beetles of different
habitats suitable range and capacity.
(4)In the pecies composition,the desert stqppe area has most ground beetles(35 species),desert
area was at least(26 species);the largest individual number ware in the desert sand vegetation area
(5398),desert area at least(594).Through analysis of community diversity,it shows its advantages of
artificial control area index,diversity index,eveness index and richness index wel'e the highest,the
desert sand vegetation area index of the smallest.By similarity analysis,artificial control area I,II and
artificial control area had higher similarity with desert communities,desert sand vegetation ale highly
different from other habitats.111e results show that the ground beetle diversity and the types of habitat
are closely relationship,the different vegetation types and the man-made interference it made the
spatial heterogeneity increases in ground beetle habitat,thereby it increasing the diversity of ground
beetles.
(5)By the dynamic time analysis,it indicate that Ningdong town in different habitats,the number
and the spcies of ground beetles are the highest in May, after May it shows downward trend.
The trends of diversity index are discrepancy in different habitats.This life history of the ground
beetle and the types ofhabitat has an evident relationship.
