This is a systematic description to the termites in five series: 1 relation between termites and human being; 2.Fundamentals of termitology including morphology, anatomy, bioactive substances,biology and ecology, 3 Taxonomy, 522 termites species in China up to Dec 1998 are summarized, where in 488 species are described for reference to new species identification. The contents of this series takes 50% of the total lenth of the monograph. 4. control of termite, emphasis on the control of Coptotermes type,Reticutitermes type, Odontermes type, Cryptotermes type. 5. Techniques for research work, including microscopic inspection, drawing techniques, survey, collection, specimen preparation and preservation, breeding, species identification, toxicity determination, statistical analyisis  and data processing, use of literatures report writing, pronunciation of scientific name, and computer application in the appendix, there are governmental and technical regulations for termite control.
 
The readers of this monograph are assumed to be termite control specialists, and students of biology, agriculture and forestry.
