《轮机自动化（英文版）》从高职轮机工程技术专业课程实施双语教学的实际出发，确立“实用、适用和使用”的思路，即以现有中文版教材编排格式为依托。在取材上，通过吸纳当前先进轮机技术作为案例，体现专业前沿性；在结构上，由浅入深，注重融合内在逻辑和前后承接体现系统性，突出基于双语模式的专业技能培养，为我国航海类高职轮机工程技术专业双语教学的实践和研究提供教学素材；在设计上，按工作任务编排设计具体内容，突出岗位能力技能训练，实施“项目引领、任务驱动”，并将外语应用能力培养融人技能训练之中；在编写形式上，突出工学结合，围绕航海类高职技术技能型人才培养的需要，实现以英语为工具掌握轮机工程技术相关技能知识。
