"Biota"records the evolution of scientific names for species, the origin of type specimen, description, distribution, ecology, and references.  

In terms of the research on butterfly classification, Professor Takashi Shirozu published the original book “ Butterflies of Formosa in Colour'” in1960 and three volumes entitled“ Taiwan Butterfly Design Book"in 1999 were commissioned by Professor yu-feng Hsu of National Taiwan Normal University(NTNU). After nearly 20 years, break throughs in molecular biotechnology and  the evolution of the concept of species have changed butterfly classification

第二册介绍了台湾37 种固定出现的种类及常见偶产种及其它4种非固定出现的蝶种。 

Butterfly Fauna of Taiwan Volume.2: Pieridae” contains an introduction to each species that includes their Chinese names and synonyms, specimen inspection, adult morphology, global distribution, distribution in Taiwan, larval host plants, biology and remarks. Each species of butterfly is depicted in color photos of the backs, the abdomens, and dissected genitalia of both female and male. The “Butterfly Fauna of Taiwan” study was the first time a complete series of monographs regarding the island, and the associated butterfly resources have been collected and reviewed with the latest data on their current status written in both Chinese and English for five volumes in total.
