Gramineae is the most widely distributed family of flowering plants. It is of the greatest use to the human race in all plants of the earth. The leaves of all gasses are very similar in gross morphology. but they are very different and more beautiful surface view in microscopical structure of leaf epidermis. The character of leaf epidermis of grasses are not only the more important for identification of species in the leaf stage, but also very important to define the subfamily in systematics. This book contains two parts, the first part deals with general microscopical structure of leaf epidermis; the second part deals with Chinese descriptions of 6 subfamilies, 114 genera 285 species and 15 varieties, each species or variety is illustrated with 2 micro-photographs for the adaxial and abaxial surface, each micro photograph is accompanied with short English note. It will serve as a key reference book to botanists, agriculturists, horticulturists etc. and also as a pictorial source book for artists.
