This is the first volume of the faunal work of Chinese Cerambycidae. The subfamily Lepturinae has been recorded by Gressitt (1951) in
"Longicorn Beetles of China" containing five tribes, thirty six genera and two hundred eighty six species and subspecies. Since then, due to the change of the taxonomic system of this subfamily, the tribes Philini, Vesperini, Nedydalini, the genera Apatophysis, and part of Pyrrocalymma, Erishimma and etc have been removed from Lepturinae; a lot of mis-identified species not belonging to Lepturinae have been revised; in addition, due to the great change of environmental conditions, such as the rapid development of urbanization caused the disappearance of forests and loss of habitats and ability of existence of these beetles. All these factors resulted the actual number of the species should be greatly reduced. In this volume, four tribes, sixty three genera and one hundred seventy three species and subspecies of main land of China have been recorded and re-described and seventy eight species of Taiwan province are listed. In this volume eight species are new to science, six species are new combination, two species are new records of China and one species is  homonym and a new name is given.
