Introduction: Now how many genre and species of grasshoppers and are there in the world? What are their synonym? Where are their distributional localities? These are important problems on the taxonomy and control of the pests. This book well answered these problems. This is a catalogue of grasshoppers and their families from all over the world. It contains 9 families, 2261 and 10136 species of grasshoppers and their allies from 1758 to 1990 (Insecta: Orthoptera: Caelifera). These families are arranged according to a phylogenetic system while the genera and species are in alphabetical order. Nine Families: Family Tanaoceridae, Family Xyrono-tidae, Family Pneumoridae, Family Trigonop-terygidae, Family Acrididae, Family Proscopiidae, Family Eumastacidae, Family Tetrigidae, Family Tridactylidae.
