The wolverine is widely distributed throughout the northern hemisphere with the boreal zone of circumpolar, even though the densities are never and nowhere high, the name has not yet been listed on the red date book or any appendices tables of CITES and other nature protection organizations as well. However, it is a endangered species in China and its region has become a southern extremity global geographical distribution of wolverine. Consequently studies of the wolverine population status and ecology is very important for the protection of various species and ecosystems in China's cold temperate zone.

This issue presents the status of the wolverine population in Northeastern China, including geographical distribution, densities, population size and described taxonomy, origin, morphology, ecology, spatial characteristics.
