This book contains three parts. Part I is about the ecological study on the giant panda, including allowing giant pandas to go back into the nature and their protection, analyses of the existing ability of their populations, patterns of their space distribution, choices of ecological circumstances and so on and the study on various mountain systems; Part 2 is about the study on the resources and their protection, mainly about the density of populations, reproduction, behaviour, the present state and the protection and management of lesser panda,, Tragelaphus spekei Sclater, white-headed leaf monkey, golden monkey in Sichuan, Crossoptilon crossoptilon and other precious and are animals; and Part 3 is about other animal resources and their protection, including the age structure, present state and so on of rats, Chiroptera and Pisces. All the studies mentioned above are recent research fruits won by the zoologists and zoological workers on the first line of protecting the resoruces of the vertebrates. Most of them are recent Master graduates. Their achievements not only are of great significance in theory and the application of the practical protection and management but also show the prosperity of cause of animal resources of the vertebrates and their protection. At the sam time, we can see clearly that in the cause of protecting the wild animals men of talents come out in sucession and we have qualified successors.
