本书利用内蒙古120个气象台站1971-2003年的气象观测资料和蝗虫发生状况的统计资料，全面系统地分析了内蒙区气温、降水、相对湿度、地表温度、土壤湿度等气候要素值的区域分布，并依照气候背景分析（多年平均值和年代际距平）、蝗虫发育期气候生境状况和变异情况、蝗虫轻发生年（1995）年和重发生年（2001）年气候值和距平等4个方面详述了各气候要素值与蝗虫发生的相关性。另外，本书还包括了蝗虫轻发生年（1995）年和重发生年（2001）6-7月植被指数分布和大气环流因子以及有关研究成果。本书的图片资源十分，是目前较为全面系统反映内蒙古地区气候状况和草原蝗虫发生关系的图册。
