This book is dedicated to the internationally respected and prominent engineer James Barry Cooke who has devoted a lifetime in enlarging the frontiers of knowledge in dam engineering field.

The idea of composing and editing this volume was launched and carried out by a group of Barry Cooke’s friends, in recognition of his outstanding achievements and enormous contribution and encouragement to the development of dam engineering, especially the concrete face rockfill type.
