Anhui lies in the belly of east China. It has a long history and a rich cultural heritage. Based on archaeological data, porcelains were produced as early as the Northern Dynasties period. By Tang and Song eras production was at its peak. Anhui represents one of the most important areas for ceramic manufacture. From ancient antiquity on Anhui has served as the major crossroad between north and south, as a juncture point for trade and commerce. The province thus has a rich repertoire of wares which derive from all over the country.
