【Introduction】

The Bayan Obo Nb-REE-Fe ore deposit, the largest REE ore deposit in the world, is located at 109°57′east longitude and 41°46′north latitude and in the Baotou city of the Autonomois Region of Inner Mongolia, China. From 1950s the deposit has been repeatedly researched by many geologists and plentiful data have been obtained, but genesis and forming age of the deposit are still heated controversy problems up to now.
On the basis of the geological and geochemical features of the deposit diversified methods of isotopic dating and isotopic geochemistry as well as element geochemistry have been used study by the authors. The Nb-REE-Fe ore, dolomite, slate, gabbro, granite, carbonatite in the ore district and rocks of strata have been destribed systematically in the paper.
