In China the project has also enjoyed full support from the State Seismological Bureau (SSB). As early as in 1983, the Chinese Working Group of the IGCP Project 206 was fromed, which was affiliated to the Institute of Geology, SSB. And it decided to select the active Tanlu fault, the active fault system around the Ordos, the active Ertai fault, the active Honghe fault, the active Changma fault and the active Ertai fault, 6 ones in total for comparison. This atlas is the research results provided by the Chinese Working Group to the project, including the information of the main active faults in China, which is part of the effects under the project of global active fault comparison. In addition to the data of the 6 active faults listed above, some new information on the gigantic active Altun fault has been supplemented, because of its prominence in the Asian continent.
