"The Jurassic Stratigraphy in the North of China", which focused on the stratigraphical division and correlation, palaeoenvironment and the oil resources of the Jurassic in the area of north of the Kunlun Mountains-Qingling Mountains-Dabie Mountains. About 130 Stratigraphers, Palaeontologists and Geologists from 14 petroleum exploration institutes of CNPC, Institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences and many universities have participated in the research. The project was carried out from the beginning of 1996 to the end of 2000. Around 230 outcrop sections through the North of China and about 300 drill sectionsof 12 oil fields have been studied, and more than 20, 000 fossils and samples have been collected. The results are harein to be published in seven books. The present book (Volume I) is a brief introduction of the strata and their correlation and the palaeobiota. Volume II is about the general characteristics of the palaeoenvironment and oil-gas source. The other five volumes deal with the regional stratigraphy, palaeobiota, palaeoenvironment and oil-gas source in detail.
