This is the first book to deal with karst cave animals in China. It consists of 11 chapters.  The chapter 1 to chater 4 summarize the research status in China and abroad, research methods, natural environment and karst environment.  The chapter 5 discusses physiology and ecology of cave animals. The chapter 6 deals with community structure and environment relatives. The chapter 7 introduces biodiversity of cave animals. totally 310 species described, they belonging to 10 classes, 31 orders,  83 families, among of them 64 species are described their morphology, ecology, distrubution, part of them illustrated with figures.  Thchapter 8 introduces spatial distribution of cave animals,  Chapter 9 analyzes  snails and bats, chapter 10 and 11 introduce origination, evolution and protection of cave animals. 
本书是第一部全面系统论述贵州喀斯特洞穴动物的专著，在全国也是该研究领域的第一部专著。全书共由11章组成，第1至4章主要概述国内外研究现状，介绍研究方法，贵州自然环境概况及喀斯特洞穴环境等；第5章主要论述了喀斯特洞穴动物生理生态方面适应洞穴生活的特征；第六章论述了洞穴动物的群落结构及环境的相关性，此外，还对洞穴生态系统中的食物网，物质循环和能量流动进行了探讨；第7章主要介绍了贵州喀斯特洞穴动物的物种多样性，通过调查，经初步鉴定和分类，计有310种，隶属3门10纲31目83科，其中只生活在洞穴内或主要生活在洞穴内的动物有83种，并对64种只生活在洞穴内或主要生活在洞穴内的物种从形态特征，生态，地理分布等方面进行了描述，部分物种配有插图；第8章主要介绍了洞穴动物的水平和空间分布；第9章对螺类和蝙蝠类的区系进行了分析；第10至11章概述了喀斯特洞穴动物的起源和演化及保护等。
