本卷包含中国藓类植物的侧蒴双齿亚类（Pleurocarpi-Diplolepideae）中最原始的类群，共有1目、21科、72属的261种，包括数量甚众的热带类型及中国和东亚特有类型。本卷共增加中国藓类植物3科、14属和39种，其中2新种。

 

This volume contains the most primitive groups of the pleurocarpi-dipolepideae of Musci in China.From the morphyolgy, taxonomy and molecular biology, the relationships between the families and genera of the mosses of this volume are not only very complex, but the concepts of these families and genera are also quite different bryologists. Under the base of of the specimens and the previous works and studies, we try to confirm the rather natural system for the families of Leucodontaceae, Orthotrichaceae, Trachypodaceae, Mettoriaceae and Neckeraceae (s.l.). Totally, there are 1 order, 21 families and 83 genera and 283 species in this volume, and among them many tropical types and East-Asiatic types, including 3 families, 15 genera, 40 species and 2 mew species, are firstly recorded in China.
