This Exhibition of Chinese History is a permanent, basic part of the National Museum of Chinese History. It was opened in 1959 and has been revised and augmented over the years. The exhibition we see today embodies all the revisions and additions made through the end of 1997. It occupies 7800 square meters of floor space and contains 5450 exhibits, most of which are the prized gems of China and rarities in the treasury of the World's art.
Based on the latest findings of chinese historians and archaeologists, the exhibition presents a broad perspective of the long avenues of history traversed by the Chinese nation, and its intricate and colorful material life and culture, from the Palaeolithic age to the year 1911 when the last feudal dynasty in China ended
