The present monograph deals with the other part of Chinese Cyprinid fishes left in the volume II, and another 2 families Psilorhynchidae and Homalopteridae are reviewed. Systematic description to 268 species of 4 sybfamilies in Cyprinidae, Barbinae comprises 17 genera, 110 species; Labeoninae 20 genera, 58 species; Schizothoracinae 11 genera, 76 species; Cyprininae 5 genera, 24 species. Psilorhynchidae 1 genus, 1 species only. Homalopteridae includes 2 subfamilies, Homalopterinae 8 genera, 27 species and Gastromyzoninae 8 genera, 44 species.

The present volume involves 11 families, 29 genera and 113 species of the Order Siluriformes in China. It is one of the basic scientific information on Chinese ichthyology. It is also a contemporary systematic revision on Chinese siluriform fishes. The whole volume is composed of two main parts, i.e. general account and systematic account. The general account deals with brief history of research, morphological characters, systematic, geographical distribution and biology of siluriform fishes. In systematic account, descriptions are given in turn of family, genus and species, putting emphasis on species taxa, mainly morphological description, as well as biology, economic significance and distribution.
