This Proceedings is a collection of 235 papers. These papers are accepted
for presentation at the 2nd International Conference on Nonlinear Mechanics
(ICNM-II) to be convened in Beijing, August of 1993. This Conference,
which is a continuation of the Shanghai Conference successfully held in
1985, is co-sponsored by Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics,
Wuhan Association for Science and Technology, Peking University and Shanghai
University of Technology. Nonlinear mechanics is the important main trend
in the contemporary study of mechanics. It serves as the theoretical basis
for the development of new technique, structures, materials and technology,
and reclaims many new research fields in applied mathematics. Achievements
in pure and applied mathematics promotes in turn the prosperity of nonlinear
mechanics.
