Yunnan has a very complex topography. Hekou, a place in southern Yunnan
is only 76metres above the sea level while the Kagebo Peak in Deqing located
in the northwest of the province enjoys an elevation of 6,740metres. The
province is endowed with all climatic types, i.e. the frigid, temperate
and horrid zones. Unique geographic and climatic conditions in Yunnan
transcend the place into a natural habitat to a large variety of fauna
and flora comprising 15,000species of higher-grade plants, over 250species
of animals and 766species of birds. All this attributes to its fame as
the "kingdom of plants" and "kingdom of animals".
