Hebei province, Iocated in North China and surrounding Beijing and Tianjin,
covers an area of 187770 square km with a population of 63 million.
With 5000 year long history, th eprovince is th ecradle of the Chinese
nation and was once th political, economic and cultural centre of North
China. The industrious and ingenious laboring people created a splendid
civilization and left us very rich tourist resources.
There are 540 cultural relics in the province. Among them, 37 are directly
under state protection, 25 are classified as special routes of "
Visit China Cultural Relics'94" by National Tourism Administration
and 2 are awarded" the World Cultural Heritage" by UN. In addition,
the province has 4 national historic cities and 5 provincial ones.
Hebei possesses a pleasant climate and fascinating natural scenery-green
hills, beautiful takes and seashores, grand plains and grasslands. The
total number of spots amounts to 400, five of them are selected as "
State Natural Scenic Areas" and three as " Forty Topping Views
of the Country"
Hebei has unique local customs, exquiite craftsmanship and abundant special
products. Cangzhou City and Wuqiao County are named as the Hometowns of
Chinese Martial arts and Acrobatics respectively. Paper-cutting. Spring
Festival painting, inner-bottle painting and porcelain cratfs are all
well-known. Honey peach, chestnut, snow pear and hollownoodles were served
at the imperial courts for many dynasties
Local communications in Hebei are quite convenient. The railways and highways
criss-cross the land. The aviation and ocean shipping are being perfected.
Shijiazhuang Airport has 50 flights every week to 30 cities including
Hongkong, and the deluxe cruiser has been on operation from Qinhuangdao
to Yantai and Dalian cities. The province has 148 tourist hotels, 127
travel agencies as well as 14 tourist coach companies. About 35 million
visitors from home and abroad are received each year.
