Yichang is very, very beautiful. Early in ancient Song Dynasty its county
governor, also one of the greatest Chinese poets, Ou Yangxiu acclaimed:"God
bestows Yichang beautiful hills and waters. Painters can never make better
works." You just see the Yangtze Three Gorges displaying natural
miracles, the native villages of patriot Qu Yuan and beauty Wang Zhaojun
telling moving stories, the ancient battlefields recalling heros, and
Qingjiang River Showing folk custom of minority Tu people…. You can hardly
resist these temptations.
Yichang is very, very old, A slice of potsherd or a piece of bronze ware
will certainly describe to you the ancient Ba-Chu culture that makes a
glorious part of history. Yichang is also very, very modern. The biggest
hydro-power station in China is located here and right after the turn
of the new century the splendid three gorges project will come into being.
The rapid development of its modern construction is sure to turn Yichang
into a big modern city.
