Chinese Association of Zoological Gardens was founded in 1985 when reform and opening to the outside world were carried in full swing in China. Founding of the association marked a new state in the development of Chinese zoos. By now zoos have been set up in all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalitles directly under the Central Government. Now there are more than 170 zoos or animal exhibition zones in China. Posscessing more than 100,000 birds, animals, amphibians, reptiles and fish in more than 600 kinds.
