The book collects here altogether 562 species (including mutants ) of common or relatively common farmland weeds in our country, belonging to 73 families and 309 genera. For most weeds edited in this book, there are 3 to 5 pictures for each of them in primary colours, showing the individual plant or plants in colony, the flower or inflorescence, fruit or seeds, seedling or roots. We try our best to show the characteristics for species identification and reproductive performance. Morphological description and brief descriptions for reproductive pattern, trends of occurrence, geographical distribution, habitats and harmfulness are included. An abstract in English is attached behind each Chinese illustration. In addition, a table of susceptible herbicides and index for farmland weeds in Chinese and Latin are appended at the end of the book. Family names in the book are arranged according to Engler plant taxonomy system, but genera and species are arranged in Latin alphabetical sequence
