This book is about the ecology of freshwater and terrestrial habitats in Hong Kong. It is intended for those who want to know more about our forests, streams, shrublands and grasslands, and about the animals that live in them. We want to help people discover something about Hong Kong's countryside, and the plants and animals it sustains. The text describes ecological patterns and discusses why these patterns exist. We hope to make the ecology of Hong Kong more understandable, and so further our reader's appreciation of our natural environment
