Abstract
The fishes of Taiwan provides the means of identifying all the fishes
known to occur in the ocean and freshwater of Taiwan, Diagnostic features,
keys, distribution and major references are given for each family, genus,
and species. Of the 237 families and 2028 species described, over 1800
are illustrated in full color which making the recognition of most fishes
much easier. Because the occurrence and correctness of scientific name
of each species in Taiwan was carefully reconfirmed by reexamining their
specimens and the most updated taxonomic information available, thus,
a lot of species which appeared in previous local fish taxonomic books
were replaced or revised in the book.
