【Introduction】
The book deals with the nomenclature, cultivation history, ecological habit, classification, breeding, propagation, cultivation, pest control, application, registering, and especially the introduction of cultivars and the rose culture, thus making the book a comprehensive introduction of roses, just like an encyclopedia of roses.
While introducing the rose cultivars, the modern roses are divided from old roses. In the world, the Modern roses XI registered 24, 000 modern roses and in 1966 more than 470 cultivars were registered in China. 200 new cultivars were described together with 21 old Chinese rose varieties. In the index, the names and the character of 1, 200 cultivars of roses were described. It is as far as if the book involving the most number of rose cultivars and worth reading.
In the chapter “rose and culture”, wide knowledge was introduced including city flower, poem, story, painting and calligraphy. It is really comprehensive and interesting.
