【Introduction】
940 camellias which are outstanding in the world systematically presented on their origins, identification and appreciation with colored photos in th ebook. Of the 940 ones, there were 30 camellia species to be worth as ornamental plants, 610 cultivars of C.japonica, 120 ones of C.reticulate, 120 ones of hybrids and 60 ones of C.sasanqua. Also,there were 100 cultivars to be related to the 940 ones described in brief.Therefore, total 1040 ones described in the book were reached. In addition, the techniques for the cultivation, propagation, pests and diseases control, hybridization and gardening of camellias were introduced with pictures. It is a useful reference book for camellia lovers, gardeners and nurserymen.It is expected that the book will be followed with interest by camellia people out of China.During writing the book, a co-operation with the camellia circles of Taiwan Province of China was done and this is an important event to make names of the camellias as same as possible in the camellia circles of the both sides of the Taiwan Straits in China
