Suzhou is the palace of China's art of Bonsai. The bonsai of Suzhou style is renowned for its elegance, simplicity, delicacy and naturalness. As a result, it takes the lead of all bonsai styles in China. The author, Shao Zhong has fifty years of experience in the bonsai career and has studied generation of Suzhou's bonsai art. The purpose of this book is to introduce the superior expertise and refined techniques of the bonsai of Suzhou style for the appreciation of readers all over the world.
The book is divided into three parts, Part One: history, briefly describes the historical achievements of the bonsai style of Suzhou, the representative figures and their unique techniques. Part Two, appreciation, puts together 290 colored photos of bonsai and 51 ancient pots and shelves. With simple explanations, it aims to provide the reader with pleasure of appreciation. Part Three, methods, introduces the uniqueness of Suzhou's bonsai art by presenting its refined techniques and simple methods. The author is special in using as few words as possible but letting the reader to achieve visual satisfaction. The book's numerous photographs, supplemented by simple but poetic explanation, give added value for both reading and collection. |
