The aim of environment geological zoning of the map is to study the regional and zonal regularities of environmental geological factors and their relation to geological problems or hazards in order to clarify mutual relation between human being and geoenvironment, and further to predict or control geoenvironment evolution and protect the geological hazards and provide scientific basis for land planning , geoenvironment improvement and disaster reduction.
The environmental geological zones are classified according to climate condition and geotectonical system. The whole karst area in China is divided into 5 zones including 16 subzones.
