This is the final report of the UNESCO/IUGS
supported International Geological Correlation Program (IGCP) project
379 "Karst Processes and the Carbon Cycle" (1995-1999). The project
is a succrssor of IGCP 299 "Geology, Climate, Hydrology and Karst
Formation" (1990-1994), which provides scientific and information
background for this project.
The volume starts from a brief introduction on the basic principles and
methodologies of IGCP 379. Previous results useful for the project, such
as data of world carbonate rock denudation are also included. The progress
of the project from 1995 to 1999 are summarized year by year, to introduce
not only the major achievements of IGCP 379, but also how it evolved.
