China covers an area extending from the temperate to the subtropical and
tropical zones. Along its coastline of more than 10,000 km., the intertidal
areas and coastal zones are inhabited by a rich fauna and flora, of which
especially the corals and mangroves provide a suitable habitat for crabs.
Over 800 species of crabs, some in abundance, have been found in China,
and many are of economic value. This book presents the results from systematic
studies of the crabs in the China seas. so as to meet the needs of scientists
engaged in marine ecology, environmental studies, and fisheries research
and education.
