Fauna Sinica Insecta (Vol.1) Siphonaptera,The present monograph was undertaken under the auspices of the Editorial Committee of Fauna Sinica, Chinese Academy of Sciences during the years 1973-1982. Our current knowledge of the flea fauna of China, including Taiwan Province, summarized here, is chiefly derived from a large number of flea collections, check lists and information on fleas provided by the various central, provincial, regional and military institutes on zoology, medicine, epidemiology, public health and endemic disease control established since the liberation of China in 1949. The present work deals with fleas: Pulicidae, Vermipsyllidae, Pygiopsyllidae, Coptopsyllidae, Hystrichopsyllidae, Ischnopsyllidae, Leptopsyllidae and Ceratophyllidae of China. It comprises two parts: General account and Systematic account. In the present work, 452 species and subspecies are described. They belong to 8 families, 17 subfamilies and 71 genera. Among them, 17 new species and subspecies are included.
