This book records 3096 species of wild and cultivated medicinal plants from southern China. They belong to 264 families, 1350 genera, including their Chinese name, Latin name, alias, living environment, distribution, collection and processing, property and flavor, function, indications and usage.
《华南药用植物〉收录了华南地区野生及栽培的药用植物3 096种（包括亚种、变种和变型），共计264科、1350属。《华南药用植物》以分类系统排列，但在每科中以字母顺序排列。每种植物包括中文名、别名、拉丁名、生境、分布、采集加工、性味功能、主治用法，有些种类还有附方和略注。
