The book reports the researches on systematics and evolution to 40 species and 2 forms of cycads distributed and introduced longtern in China
The auther apply the methods of anatomy, palynology, embryology and morphology to the meticulous analysis on the properties distinction, evolutional relationship of every species and the relationship between them and the environment. In the analysis, some important phenomina are found which have not been reportd before on the study o fcycads. There exist band-shape structures in sarcotesta which obviously look like primary thichening meristem. The sacotesta of different species possess different vascular bundle, some possess amphivasal vascular bundle and some possess a new type of vascular bundle that the xylem distributed on both sides of inside and outside of the phloeum. New structural patterns such as phenty of secondary cortex are discovered on the root of cycads. In contrast material of pinna of dZamia furfuracea, the vessels are discovered, formerly, these were no seen publication on cycads possess vessels etc.
