This Atlas, consisting of 284 charts, including the statistical data of wind, air temperature, sea-air temperature difference, relative humidity, dew-point, air pressure, cloud, visibility, weather phenomena, and specific humidity, the parameters of wind stress, evaporation, sensible and latent heat transport as well as the product of wind vector and sea-air temperature difference. It is a basic and synthetic atlas of marine climatics for the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea and East China Sea. The data in this atlas were collected mainly from the marine investigations, the coast station observations and the ships' auxiliary observation reports during the period of 1963-1982. The data of marine investigations include those from domestic and overseas oceanic multi-disciplinary investigations in the considered area. The data of the coast stations include both meteorological and marine observation data, which have been collected since the establishment of the stations. The data of marine investigation and the coast stations have been strictly scrutinized and have proved to be of high quality and reliability. Therefore, these data can be used directly. However, the accuracy of the ships' auxiliary observational data was comparatively low. These data have been strictly examined and verified. The observed sea area in this atlas is girded by 1°×1° longitude-latitude, in sequence of from south to north and from west to east. The individual areas of the coasts and islands are incorporated into the nearby grids. The whole sea area is divided into 240 statistical units. In the chart of the total times of observation, the total times of observation in every statistical unit during 20 years is indicated. Because of the difference in the total number of times of observation for each of the meteorological elements, the number of data used in the calculating process are also figured in the chart of related elements. Although less data for individual areas were obtained, theses data are still included for reference.
