天仙子族(茄科)的花粉形态补充研究及其系统学意义(英文)
[Author]: ZHANG Zhi-Yun1,YANG Dong-Zhi2,JOONGKU Lee3,LI Liang-Qian1(1.Herbarium(PE)& State Key Laboratory of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany,Institute of Botany,the Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100093,China;2.Department of Bioengineering,Zhengzhou University,Zhengzhou 450001,China;3.Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology,Daejeon 305-806,Korea)
[Abstract]: Pollen grains of 23 species in seven genera of the tribe Hyoscyameae(Solanaceae)and three related genera(Atropa,Mandragora,Lycium)were investigated under SEM.The pollen grains are globose, subglobose, oblate or prolate in shape.Germination apertures were absent or present and are irregularly poroid,3-colpate,4-colpate,3-or 4-colpate,pantocolpate or 3-colporate.The exine ornamentation was spinulose, tuberculate, variously striate,striate-foveolate,striate-reticulate,rugose-sinuate,minutely reticulate or reticulate. The colpal membrane was nearly smooth but with granular, spinulose or tuberculate protuberances. The pollen grains show great variation between genera in the Hyoscyameae in the presence and type of a germination aperture and exine ornamentation. These may be important characters in revealing phylogenetic relationship in the tribe. The evolutionary trend in germination apertures ranges from absent or presence to 3-or 4-colpate then to 3-colporate.Anisodus,which lacks germination apertures,is considered to be primitive, while genera with 3-colporate pollen grains, such as Przewalskia and Hyoscyamus are believed to be advanced.

2、Pollen morphology of the genus Lasianthus (Rubiaceae) and related taxa from Asia (In English)
亚洲茜草科粗叶木属及其相关属植物花粉形态研究(英文)
[Author]: 1,2Min CAI 1Hua ZHU 3Hong WANG 1(Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kunming 650223, China) 2(Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100049, China) 3(Key Laboratory of Biodiversity and Biogeography, Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kunming 650204, China)
[Abstract]: Pollen morphology of 16 Asian species including two subspecies and one variety of the genus Lasianthus and five species from five related genera was examined by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Lasianthus Jack is eurypalynous. The pollen grains are small to medium in size and spheroidal or subprolate in shape, with a few being prolate. Pollen morphology is remarkably diverse, particularly in aperture and exine ornamentation. The apertures are usually (3–)4–(–5)-zonoaperturate, being porate and pororate. The number of apertures varies from three to five, with the majority of species being 3–4 zonoaperturate. The exine is usually perforate, finely reticulate or coarsely reticulate. Pollen data appear to be morphologically informative and useful for distinguishing among species of Lasianthus, and for elucidating the relationships among some species.

3、STUDIES ON POLLEN MORPHOLOGY OF GENUS DIDYMOCARPUS (GESNERIACEAE) IN CHINA (In English)
中国苦苣苔科长蒴苣苔属花粉形态研究(英文)
[Author]: YAN Zhi-jian~1, LI Zhen-yu~2 rovince and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guiyang 550002, China; 2. Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica, Beijing,100093, China
[Abstract]: Morphological studies of pollen of eight species of genus Didymocarpus (Gesneriaceae) in China are reported in this paper. The pollen grains of genus Didymocarpus are tricolporoidate, subprolate in shape, lobate-circular in polar view, elliptical in equatorial view. Colpi are rather long and rather narrow, colpus membrane with granular processes and constricted in the middle. The study shows that pollen of species in genus Didymocarpus are similar in shape and colpus characteristics, but different in ornamentations.

4、Pollen Morphologies of Typhonium Schott and Its Genetically Close Genera (Araceae) (In English)
犁头尖属及其近缘属植物天南星科的花粉形态(英文)
[Author]: LI Ai-hua,SHEN Yun-guang,GUAN Kai-yun,WANG Zhong-lang(Kunming Institute of Botany,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Kunming 650204,China)
[Abstract]: The pollens of 18 plants of Typhonium Schott and its genetically close genera, 8 first reported plants and eleven endemic plants in China were studied with a scanning electron microscope. The results show that the plants of four genera of Tribe Areae have basically similar pollens, which are spherical,in-aperturate,intectate and spinulose, but they greatly differed in pollen size, spinule length, shape and density, basal spinule diameter, and inter-spinule ornamentation, and this can be used as one of the species-identifying characteristics. The pollen morphologies support the viewpoint that Tribe Areae is the most evolutive taxon of Araceae. Granular exine sculpture is the most remarkable pollen features of Pinellia Tenore plants. The pollen morphologies do not support the viewpoint that T. calcicolum C. Y. Wu ex H. Li et al. and T. kunmingense H. Li should be merged. T. omeiense H. Li has very small pollens and as results is thought a more evolutive species. The species of T. omeiense H. Li differ in pollen morphology, even more than the genera do,and hence the classification of this genus may need to be modified to a large extent, which agrees with the results achieved by Susanne with cpDNA bands.

[Author]: ZHANG Xiao-ping (College of Life Science, Anhui Normal University, Wuhu 241000) (State Key Laboratory of Paleobiology and Stratigraphy, CAS, Nanjing 210008) TANG Ling-yu (The Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou 730000) (Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology, The Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing 210008) ZHOU Zhong-ze (College of Life Science,Anhui University, Hefei 23000) ZHANG Qing-song (Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100101)
[Abstract]: Pollen morphology of 12 species of the tundra plants from Barrow, Arctic are investigated in the present study. The result shows that the pollen grains are mainly spheroidal, subspheroidal and oblate, cocoon-formed or tetrads. The types of aperture are mostly tricolporate or tricolpate, rarely pantoporate. They are radially or bilaterally symmetric. All these plants from which the pollen meterials were collected for this study are found to occur commonly in Arctic area, and belong to 12 species in 10 families. Most of them, except for 3 species which are bushes, are perennial or annual herbs. Investigation on pollen grains of tundra plants can provide significant data for comparative study of fossil pollen and for reconstruction of paleovegetation and paleoclimate in the Barrow area.

6、POLLEN MORPHOLOGY AND DETAILED STRUCTURE OF THE GENUS NANNOGLOTTIS AND ITS SYSTEMATIC IMPLICATIONS (In English)
毛冠菊属的花粉形态和结构及其系统学意义(英文)
[Author]: Zhang Xiao ping (Department of Biology , Anhui Normal University, Wuhu 241000)
[Abstract]: This study presents a detailed survey and discussion on the pollen morphology and structure of Nannoglottis with light microscopy(LM), SEM, and TEM. Measurements of the polar axis and equatorial diameter, exine thickness, spine length, and spine number at each lobe are made. Differences were observed both between representatives of different tribes and between species of the same genus. The principal differences in pollen among the various species were in size, shape and subtle variations of the surface ornamentation. Three kinds of pollen types can be recognized in the whole genus, namely, spheroidal type, prolate type and oblate type. Combined with both palynological and biosystematic evidences, the data support Hand Mazzetti’s taxonomic treatment that put Nannoglottis in the tribe Astereae, rather than under the tribes Senecioneae or Inuleae.

7、Pollen Morphology of Bignoniaceae in China (In English)
中国紫葳科花粉形态的研究(英文)
[Author]: WEI Zhong-Xin, WANG Hong, JIN Qiao-Jun (Kunming Institute of Botany,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Kunming 650204,China)
[Abstract]: The prains of 27 native and introduced species belonging to 18 genera of Bignoniaceae were examined by light and scanning electron microscopes. Some of which were reported or examined by scanning electron microscope for the first time.Though, the Bignoniaceae are conspicuously eurypalynous, their apertures can be divided into 3 (-4) colpate, 3 (-4) colporate, 3- porate, stephanocolpate and pantocolpate types. The exine sculptures include foveo- late, rugulate, reticulate (fine and coarse reticulations) and spinulate, or psilate. Most pollen exist as monads but a few are tetrad. In the genus of Radermachera, the pollen aperture and sculpture are different between R. sinica and R. yunnanensis. The pollen of R. sinica is3-porate and reticulate sculpture, but that of R. yunnanensis is 3- colpate and foveolate sculpture. In the family of Bignonaceae, the pollen morphology is valuable both in generic delimi- tation and in the study of systematic relationships, especially aperture and the exine sculpture..

8、Pollen Morphology of Aceraceae and Its Systematic Implication (In Chinese with English Summary)
槭树科花粉形态及其系统学意义
[Author]: TIAN Xin, JIN Qiao-Jun, LI De-Zhu, WEI Zhong-Xin, XU Ting-Zhi (Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kunming, 650204,China)
[Abstract]: Pollen gains of 33 species in 21 sections of Acer, together with two species of Dipteronia were observed by light microscope(LM) and scanning electronic microscope (SEM). The shape of pollen grains in this family varies from subspheroidal to prolate in equatorial view and is 3-lobed circular in the poilar view. The aperture types of both species in Dipteronia are tricolporate. This type can also be found in 4 sections of Acer, but most species in Acer are tricolpate. As for the pollen exine sculpture, both species in Dipteronia and most spcies in Acer are striate, but two sections in Acer are finely striate-reticulatoid or regulate. By the studies of pollen morphology and other evidence, it is inferred that :(1)Sect.Palmata, Sect.Spicata and Sect.Microcarpa may be the closest groups in Acer to Dipteronia; (2) A. distalum and A. nipponicum represent two related monotypic sections; (3) The pollen of A. pseudoplatanus, which is different from other four species in Sect. Acer,is similar to that of A. saccharum. It therefore indicates that these two species have a close relationship; (4) Sect. Carpinifolia ,which has finely striate-reticulatoid exine sculpture, and Sect. Negundo, which has regulate exine sculpture, may be the most specialized sections in Acer; (5) Variation from tricolporate to tricolpate is regarded as an evolutionary trend in Aceraceae. The genus Dipteronia, therefore,is more primitive than the genus Acer.

[Author]: MAO Li-mi 1) ,LI Ni-ya 2) ,WANG Dong 2) ,CHEN Jian-hai 3) and ZHONG Cai-rong 3) 1) State Key Laboratory of Palaeobiology and Stratigraphy,Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology,CAS,Nanjing 210008 2) College of Life Sciences,Central China Normal University,Wuhan 430079;3) Administration Bureau of Dongzhai National Mangrove Reserve,Haikou 571129
[Abstract]: The distribution of Sonneratia extends from East Africa to Indo-Malesia,northern Australia,New Guinea and the Western Pacific, and the Sonneratia vegetation comprises the main communities of coastal mangrove forests. This paper presents pollen morphological results based on LM and SEM observations for six species of the genus. Pollen wall debris obtained by the MP FastPrep120 were observed using SEM in order to examine the exine stratification. Four pollen types of the Sonneratia species can be grouped, namely A type(Sonneratia alba,S. × hainanensis,S. × gulngai),B type(S. ovata),C type(S. caseolaris) and D type (S. apetala). Pollen keys are established based on their morphological characteristics. Pollen morphological study on extant Sonneratia contributes our understanding of the evolution of mangrove paleobotany and paleoecosytem changes, which expands the mangrove paleoecological study field. Pollen morphological investigations of the extant Sonneratia plants provide useful information, which are important keys to the identification of fossil pollen grains of the same genus or related taxa. The significance of extant Sonneratia pollen on fossil pollen identification and palecological study is also discussed.

11、Microtubule Organization in Germinated Pollen of Pinus thunbergii (In English)

[Author]: Li Guoping~ 1,2 Huang Qunce~1 Yang Lusheng~2 Qin Guangyong~1(1. Provincial Key Laboratory of Ion Beam Bio_Engineering, Zhengzhou University Zhengzhou 450052;2.Department of Environment and Life Sciences, Putian University Putian 351100)
[Abstract]: Gymnosperms originated earlier than angiosperms. Elongation in gymnosperms pollen tube exhibits some evolutionarily primitive characteristics, i.e. slow germination and growth, branching and longevity. These differences may be orchestrated by cytoskeletal organization. In the study, microtubule organization in germinated pollen of Pinus thunbergii is investigated using a confocal laser scanning microscope after immunofluorescence labeling. Within germinated pollen, microtubules are arranged obliquely or transversely. In elongated tubes, microtubules are arranged along the longitudinal axis. An enriched microtubules network is presented in the pollen tube tip and has a unique functional role. Following colchicine treatment, the organization of microtubules within pollen tubes is disrupted and the morphology of pollen tubes is changed. Colchicine significantly induces tube tip swelling. Swollen tip is considered to be caused by the disorganization of microtubules in the tip. Our results indicated that microtubules in gymnosperms pollen tube tip play an important role in maintaining tip integrity. The present paper also suggests that microtubules participate in directing tip extension in gymnosperms pollen tube and gymnosperm pollen tubes elongate in a mechanism that is different from angiosperm pollen tubes.

[Author]: ZHAO Hong-Bo,FANG Wei-Min,CHEN Fa-Di(College of Horticulture,Nanjing Agricultural University,Nanjing 210095,China)
[Abstract]: The pollen germination in vitro of four cultivars of Prunus mume were detected. The results showed that the optimum culture medium of pollen germination of P.mume was ME3+200 g•L-1PEG4000(pH5.0),at which the pollen germination ratio of cultivars ’Dan Fenghou’,’Jiuguan Lü’e’,’Xuanyan Gongfen’,’Yueguang Yudie’reached 58.1%,45.3%,84.5%,50.7% respectively.PEG4000 can remarkably accelerate pollen germination of P.mume, and the optimal concentration was 200 g•L-1.The effects of the sucrose on pollen germination was not prominent, only low concentration of the sucrose(50 g•L-1)can accelerate pollen germination of some cultivars(e.g.’Jiuguan Lü’e’),however, high concentration of sucrose would inhibit strongly pollen germination and the growth of pollen tubes. There was no significant difference between the effects of solid and liquid cultures on pollen germination in vitro.

[Author]: Gan Guofeng Xu Jin Lu Ye Shi Jisen (Key Laboratory of Forest Genetics and Biotechnology of Ministry of Education Nanjing Forestry University Nanjing 210037)
[Abstract]: Microfilament skeleton plays important role during the process of pollen development and pollen tube growth. We observed the distribution of microfilaments in the pollen and pollen tube of Cunninghamia lanceolata by phalloidin labeling fluorescence and confocal laser scanning microscope. The images showed different distribution of microfilaments during pollen germination process. At the early stage of pollen germination, filiform microfilaments occurred in the pollen cytoplasm, and formed thick F-actin bundles around the nuclear surface; With pollen tube growth, microfilament bundles extended and distributed axially in the pollen tube;Thick F-actin bundles were absent near the pollen tube tip and a dense actin cap was formed with thin microfilament fragments in the tip of pollen tube. The microfilament density in the pollen and pollen tube was different from other angiosperms. The results sugguested that the difference in the microfilament density might be related to the slow growth of a pollen tube in C.lanceolata.

百合科(Liliaceae)植物花粉形态及花粉发育的研究
[Author]: Su Lijuan
[Abstract]: Liliaceae is one of the most important plant species in the angiosperm. To research the germ-plasm resources of Liliaceae is regarded as very valuable at home and abroad. Palynology and reproductive biology of plant are the common methods to research the phylogenetic development of plant.Pollen grains of 8 species of Hosta longipes (Franch.et Savat.) Matsum var., Hosta ventricosa (Salisb.) Stearn, Hosta ensata F. Maekawa, Chlorophytum capense (L.)Kuntze, Hemerocallis citrina Baroni, Fritillaria maximowiczii Freyn, Lilium pumilum DC. and Paris verticillata M.-Bieb. were observed and compared by light microscope (LM).Be based on the result of the studies, some conclusions are drawn as follows: The pollen grains of Liliaceae are generally monocolpate (distal). Generally the side of the grain opposite the colpus is narrow, and the colpus generally extends fully to the end of the grain. The equatorial view of the pollen grains are boat-shaped, elliptic or round, and the polar view are elliptic or round. The sculptures are thin- reticulate, thick- reticulate, granulate- reticulate or foveolate- reticulate. The pollen development of H. longipes (Franch. et Savat.) Matsum and its variation, C. capense (L.) Kuntze and P. verticillata M.-Bieb. were studied by paraffin section and light microscope. This paper briefly describes the progress in microsporogenesis,male-gametogenesis, the type of mature pollen, anther development and tapetum development during the pollen development. The results of reproductive biology were observed as follows: The microsporogenesis of Liliaceae is successive type. The tetrads are mostly isobilateral or tetragonal, and less linear. The pace of pollen development in one anther is basically synchronization, but not going all the way. The mature pollen of Liliaceae is 2-cell or 3-cell type. One species has only one type of pollen, but one genus may have two types. There are usually some abnormal pollen in the anther, but the types and odds are different. The tapetum of Liliaceae is secretory tapetum. The mature anther wall is usually consisted by a layer epidermis cell and a layer endothecium cell, except that some species have two layers endothecium cell. Calcium oxalate crystal, which is raphides, is ubiquitous in the anther of Liliaceae. But the amount, phase and position of distribution are

[Abstract]: The pollen morphology of 15 Chinese traditional roses were examined under scanning electron microscope(SEM).The features of pollen grains were goniotreme, prolate and perprolate,37.59-51.95 μm×17.02-25.33 μm in size. The equatorial view was ellipse, while the polar view was trilobate-circular with tricolporate annularly distributed in equal space.Exine sculpture was striate with apertures.Features of the exine ornamentation showed variability among cultivars.Cluster analysis results indicated that the size and exine sculpture of pollen could reflect the differences among cultivars in a certain extent.According to the evolution of rose pollen,it can be inferred that Roses chinensis ’Parsons’ Pink China’,’Slater’s Crimson China’ and ’Pu Fu Hong’ were more evolutive than other cultivars, while ’Si Mian Jing’ could be regarded as an original cultivar.

[Abstract]: Pollen morphology of two endangered elms peculiar to Mt. Langya were examined and described comprehensively under light Microscope (LM). They are Ulmus gaussenii Cheng and U. chenmoui Cheng. The result shows that the pollen grains are mainly subspheroidal in shape and polygonal to rounded or irregular-shaped in polar view. The ornamentation of exine is verrucate, the apertures with 4—6pores are located in equator and subequator U. gaussenii morphology showed typical endangered characteristics when compared with U.pumila. Their geographical distribution, local altitude, annual precipitation and annual accumulated temperature, especially the March climate, are studied to discuss the relationship between the pollen species, morphology, habitat and environment conditions. Therefore, the study will benefit the reconstruction the palaeovegetation, palaeoclimate and paleaoenvironment in Mt. Langya by utilizing the fossil sporo-pollen assemblage.

[Abstract]: Pollen morphologies of 33 different wintersweet (Chimonanthus praecox) cultivars in Henan were observed under SEM. Results showed: the wintersweet pollen grains was iso-polar, bilateral symmetry, and existed in the form of single grain, and most of grains were prolate; the pollen had 2-colporate. The exine sculptures were verrucous, vermicule, perforated and cave-shaped; the pollen morphology. The exine sculpture features, pollen shape and pollen size) could be used as the reference bases in the wintersweet cultivars classifications. The pollen morphology was not directly correlated with the external morphology. This study dose not support hypothesis classifying and identifying wintersweet cultivars by pollen morphology alone.

28、TESTS OF POLLEN QUALITY AND DEVELOPMENT OF POLLEN TUBES IN LIRIDENDRON (MAGNOLIACEAE) (In Chinese with English Summary)
鹅掌楸属两种植物花粉品质和花粉管生长的研究
[Author]: Zhou Jian;Fan Ruwen(College of Forest Resources & Environment,Nanjing Forestry University Nanjing210037)
[Abstract]: By the methods of fluorochroma(FDA),in vitro,in vivo and nursery stock growing, the pollen quality of the two woody plants, Liridendron chinense and L. tulipifera is examined, and the change in pollen quality was observed during the flowering period.Meanwhile, the pollen germination on the stigma and the growth of pollen tube in the style were investigated under the natural or artificial pollination condition. The results indicate that in vitro condition the pollen germination and pollen tube growth are promoted by the style and ovary tissue obviously. The pollens are affinity, and germinate well on oneself or alien stigma and ovule, however the rate of the pollen tube passing the style is low, only 24%,which is in accordance with our previous study. The results prove again that the developmental phase of the male gametophytes is one of the important factors which influence the seed setting rate, and the style is the region where the inaffinity reaction occurs.

29、ULTRASTRUCTURE OF MICROFILAMENTS IN POLLEN AND POLLEN TUBES OF HOSTA VENTRICOSA(=H.COERULEA) (In Chinese with English Summary)
紫萼花粉粒和花粉管中微丝的超微结构
[Author]: Hu Shi-yi Li Chun-gui Zhu Cheng (Department of Biology,Peking University,Beijing 100871)
[Abstract]: Ultrastructure of microfilaments in pollen grains and pollen tubes of Hosta ventricosa (=H.coerulea) was investigated. Results indicate that microfilaments with conventional chemi- cal fixation are preserved only in pollen grains, but destroyed in pollen tubes.Microfilaments treated with phalloidin before chemical fixation are found preserved in pollen tubes. In pollen grains a pronounced organization of parallel microfilaments appeared in bundles with its distri- bution characteristics is always restricted to their functional domains where bundles were in close contact with the vegetative nucleus. In young pollen tubes cytoplasmic bundles of micro- filaments appeared also to pass close to the surface of mitochondria, plastids, endoplasmic re- ticulum, vesicles and small vacuoles, and always associated with lipid bodies. These findings strongly indicate that there is a relationship between microfilaments and the movement of vege- tative nucleus and other organelles in the germination of pollen grains and in the growth of pollen tubes.

中国水仙花粉母细胞减数分裂和花粉发育的观察
[Author]: Wang lianying Qin Kuijic Li Maoxue,
[Abstract]: 1 . Through smear slides, meiosis of Chinese sacred lily (Narcissus tazetta var. Chinensis Roem. ) is found to be obviously irregular and unbalanced.2. Observations on development of the pellcn grains prove that abortive pollens are formed from microspores with micronuclei, while micro-spores without micronuclci continue to develope into normal functional pollens. The microspores without micronuclei do not have to same chromosome constituent, their development is not synchronous, and no stargh accumulated in them. By artificial germination the pollen shows a rather low percentage (30
