弹尾虫(Collembola),俗称跳虫(springtail),简称姚,是世界上种类最丰富的动物类群之一。该类群作为中小型土壤动物的代表,与线虫、螨类共称为土壤动物三大类群。弹尾虫在土壤中具有特殊的地位和功能,可作为土壤质量评估的特征指标,在各类生态系统中起着重要的作用。它们与其他土壤动物一同对土壤物质循环、理化性质、能流、降解化肥与农药、生物群落的维护等发挥重要作用。对弹尾虫进行多样性研究,为其生物学、生态学作用的进一步研究,土壤污染监测和生物防治提供了重要的科学依据。
近年来,弹尾虫的研究多集中在不同生态系统中的多样性、生理学、与环境因子关系、与其他生物作用机制及对全球气候变化响应等方面。弹尾虫通常随着生境不同而呈现出明显的地区性差异。特别是在受人类影响较大(如重金属污染、火烧、农药施用等)的地区,弹尾虫在垂直分布、季节变化等方面呈现出敏感性,因此可作为良好的环境指示生物。
