The Regional Geochemistry National Reconnaissance program(RGNR), initiated in 1979 has now been covered about 7.7million km (about 80% of China' territory). By stream sampling and analysis of 39 elements, it makes great coutribution to the discoveries of new mineral deposits and the science of geochemical mapping at that time. This program first advanced the idea that the detection limits of all trace&subtrace elements should be lowered down beneath the crustal abundance. For this ldea to be fulfilled,China insisted in all this 30 years to develope and improve multi-instrument mutil-method analytical systens. It was predicted at the initationof the (RGNR) program that more than tens thousand regional anomalies will be delineated, more than thousands anomalies will be further explored and the results will be more than hundreds ecnomic deposits discovered. Now thirty years has elapsed, 1947 economic mineral deposits were discovered (mainly Au, Ag base metals ,copper, tungsten, tin and molybdenum deposits) with the values of potential ore reserve exceeding 2000 billion Yuan. This fact is far more than the prediction at the initiation stage of the program. This atlas is aggregated on the initiation of the RGNR program data in the various provinces in China, a compilation of mapping data to the end of the 2002 geochemical mapping results. Xiang Yunchuan has responsible for the data management, a national regional geochemical database was established by the Development Research Center of China Geological Survey Bureau, Dr,Nie Lanshi carred out the data processing. Dr.Cheng Zhizhong has responsible for the geochemical map products.
