The dissertation is the result of a taxonomic Study on predacjous gall midges and their related
taxa fmm China, which includes two parts:the introduction and the classification.
In the introduction,the research history on predacious gall midges and their related taxa are
summerized;The taxonomic status,the biologicaI characters,the morphologic characters and
teminology, the materials and methods used in the study are introduced.
A preliminary biogeographic analysis of Chinese fauna is made based 0n the genem and
species recorded in the present dissertation.Distribution data of Chinese genera and species are
pravided.The result Shows that (1) the oriental components constitute the majority of Chinese
fauna.Of all the species involved in this study,125 species(including 49 mutual distributed
species with Palaearctic Region),acount for 75% of the total,are from Oriental region; (2)the
percentage of mutual species both from Oriental and Palaearctic Regions are relatively higher(49
species)than the palaearctic components(4l species) and make up 30%;(3) 32 and 19 Chinese
species are distributed in Europe and Russian Far East respectively,make up 19% and 11%.Some
species are als distributed in America and India.
