FISHES OF THE YELLOW RIVER & BEYOND

In this posthumous publication on the fish fauna of the Yellow River, the author describes more than 170 fish species native to China's "mother river" and its tributaries. Historical investigation dating back to  ancient times, as well as influences of geological history and human activities on the fish fauna of the region, are also documented. Morphological characters and geographical distribution are systematically described indetail for each fish species, along with brief mentioning of taxonomic history and listing of relevant references.  Identification keys of each order, family and subfamily, genus and species are outlined at the outset of relevant discussions. A comparison table is attached with primary contributions from professor H -. Wu, highlighting the differences (if any ) of taxon names used in this book, compared with those in latin-Chinese dictionary of fish names( ISBN 9789578596764)

A collection of over a dozen ichthyological papers and review articles, as well as over forty popular science articles of the author are included in the last part of the book
