The Junggar Basin is one of the largest continental sedimentary basins in China where Mesozoic to Cenozoic strata are well developed with relatively complete successions and aboundant fossil. Especially the Permian/ Triassic sequences cropping out in Dalongkou section of the Jimsar County and the Triassic/Jurassic sequences in Haojiagou section of the Urumqi County contain continuous strata and diversified fossils, and are highly significant in biostratigraphy and boundary delineation Lithologically, the Mesozoic to Cenozoic strata in the Junggar Basin may be divided in ascending order into the upper part of the Guodikeng Formation, Jiucaiyuan, Shaofanggou Karamay, Huangshanjie, Haojiagou, Badaowan, Sangonghe, Xishanyao, Toutunhe, Qigu Kalaza, Qingshuihe, Hutubihe, Shenjinkou, Lianmusin, Donggou, Ziniquanzi, Anjihaihe Shawan. Tasihe and Doshanzi Formations Based on the distribution and abundance of each of the palynomorphs, 27 sporo-pollen assemblages from the studied sections may be proposed

1.limatulasporites-lundbladispora-klausisporites(LLK)assemblage This assemblage is obtained from the upper part of the Guodikeng Formation. In this
assemblage the pteridophytic spores are richer than the gymnospermous pollen. Among the pteridophytic spores. the zonatrilete spores rank the first in content, including
Limatulasporites, Kraeuselisporites and Lundbladispora etc. The next is the azonotrilete spores, including Verrucosisporites, Apiculatisporis, Punctatisporites etc. In addition, there are monolete spores Aratrisporites in very few. Among the gymnospermous pollen the nonstriate bisaccate pollen are the richest, including Alisporites, Klausipollenites, Platysaccus Vitreisporites etc. And secondly, striate bisaccate pollen, including Protohaploxypinus, Striatoabieites, Taeniaesporites, Lueckisporites virkkiae etc The monocolpate pollen and polyplicate pollen have a certain percentage.

This book describes totally 541 species belonging to 141 genera Mesozoic and 274 species belonging to 94 genera Cenozoic sporo-pollen in the book

Decription of New Genera and Species
According to the concept of organ genera and species, 1 subgenera and 48 new species described
