The 19 International Botanical Congress is held in Shenzhen, China and over 10 research papers pertaining to Begonias will be presented. 本书就中国秋海棠野生植物资源现状进行了整理归类，分别介绍了丰富多彩的秋海棠世界、中国秋海棠野生资源与应用、野生秋海棠的引种简史、秋海棠属的分类、秋海棠的栽培与繁育以及中国引种栽培的野生秋海棠27 个组，共223 种。全书采用简要文字描述并配以彩色照片的编排介绍秋海棠属各个野生种类的主要形态特征、分布与生境、栽培繁殖、观赏特性，为植物科研工作者、植物爱好者*了丰富的参考资料

该专著通过约8万字和680余幅精美的图片，图文并茂的介绍了秋海棠属各个野生种类的形态、产地、生境、栽培、繁殖、观赏特性等。其中包括‘变色秋海棠’、‘蛛网脉秋海棠’等150种国内有分布的秋海棠原生种和特产于菲律宾、马来西亚的‘内格罗斯秋海棠’、‘马来西王秋海棠’等70余种国外野生秋海棠。
