436 varieties have been collected into this volume, including all varieties exhibited in Hainna exhibition in 1998, Beijing and Changchun exhibition in 1999. Thos varieties came from 70 seed breeding institutions and companies in 21 provinces or municipalities of China, as well as from 6 overseas countries (region), almost covered all the cultivated varieties bred domestically or introduced into China from foreign countries. Each variety was illustrated with a color pictures and described in Chinese and English to present most details about varieties' characteristics, biological features, cultivating techniques and suitable cultivating conditions to readers.
